This weekend I checked out the Seattle Art Museum, (no I wasn't bored I quite enjoy the arts) and checked out a couple exhibits. The main exhibit was Smoke and Mirrors which was pretty thought provoking given the majority of the pieces were made with, well obviously, smoke and mirrors. There was some other dope stuff to check out down there, especialy the Black Art exhibit which I thouht was very interesting. If you haven't already I encourage you to ake a trip down there it's worth it. Unfortunatly some bitch ass security guard told me I couldnt take pictures so this is the only one I got. As you can see crazy shit goes down at the museum.

Just days ago, some friends and eye looked throw a picture book filled with Graffiti in the mid 80's done on street cars. We thought to ourselves, wouldn't it be cool if we had the balls to tag the new Light Rail. Apparently we weren't he only ones who thought it was a novel idea because just Saturday morning it was reported that the Light Rail that was being displayed was "Vandalized" by taggers. The car was parked near I-5 South bound on an elevated platform. It was said to be there to exhibit the progress of Seattle's Light Rail and that they were confident in security of the car. Little did they know that Seattle taggers are quite the ambitious bunch and the first to tag a new light rail gets mad props. Here in Seattle graffiti "Vandalism" as it is referred to by adults and some responsible teenagers, is on the rise by 40% since last year. I myself have seen a rise in tagging around my own neighborhood with prominent taggers like Eckel, Loser, and The Chicken Kid. Adults fear that nothing is safe anymore from these terrible people who vandalise property with no regard to its owners as they refer to them as. Seattle spends over a million dollars on painting over graffiti and installing cameras to parks and graffiti hot spots. Graffiti is not a very high priority for the police, simply because it doesn't matter! I for one believe that people are a little to uptight about the subject of graffiti, so I'm here to explain this for you and clear up any confusion you might be having. There are two kinds of activity's that can be used with a pen and can, one is able to either tag or graffiti. Tagging is simply going around various places in your neighborhood and writing what you think is a clever "tag name" on just about anything you can think of. Tagging is not art in any way and is truly vandalism. Then there is graffiti, graffiti is much more then writing your tag name graffiti is art. Graffiti takes time, it takes first and second drafts just like any other piece of work. Graffiti should not be looked down upon by society or confused with tagging, a graffiti artist is an actual artist and should get the due respect of an artist. Too often the term graffiti is used with tagging and is confused as being the same thing, but if we look closely we will see a clear difference in tagging and graffiti. Society as a whole I am petitioning you to pay a little bit more attention to what you may think is a vandal, because on second glance you may find an artist. Graffiti is art don't discount it for anything less.

Dyme Def Mixtape Release Party

Sunday Night Kooler, Corwin, Mike and I ventured to the great unknown, Fremont, to attend the Dyme Def's 3BadBrothaaas Mixtape release party. All of us being on the VIP, peace to my man Benito for that, list we were able to get in free, bring our Slurpee's in, and chill in this real nice lounge spot.

We waited awhile as anticipation grew for Dyme Def to rock the stage. Various wack rappers got on stage and tried, failing miserably to rock the stage. This gave us some time to walk around and pass out mix tapes, buttons, stickers as well as meet the young lady's and local rappers who were dispersed throughout the crowd

The Group got on stage at around 11:47 and performed for about 30 minutes. They performed some of their tracks from Space Music as well as some brand new tracks from the mixtape 3BadBrothaaas. The new tracks were very creative and original, especially Brain's Them song and My Nuts. The performance was made even more interesting because of a projector placed right behind the performing group that displayed various images that usually had to do with the lyrics being said. This was by far the most creative thing I have ever seen at a local concert. The video made the experience so much more enjoyable and interesting. Along with the projector aspect and the new songs, Dyme Def rocked the crowd like always with incredible steez the crowd enjoyed. More pictures from the performance and the night.

This new black governors is kinda cool. Slick Rick has been granted a full pardon and is now allowed to go back to his childhood residence, New York. This is what the governor had to say about the situation:

Oh man Common what is going on. I'm almost as disappointed in this track as I am in The Cool Kids Much Hyped Album The Bake Sale. This reminds me of something off of Electric Circus which was far from Commons usual soulful sound. Pharrell's beat is not the problem to me, in fact I really like Pharrell's beat on this track. Pharrell can do much better but the real issue is that the beat is just not Common. The beat is way to fast for him and lacks a lot of the rhythmic soul that gives Common such panache. Common cant flow over this beat, he should have stuck to a nice Kanye beat and called it a day. Honestly Common, what happened to the Resurrection days?

Macklemore At Lakeside

So yesterday Macklemore showed up at my school for our annual May Day celebration. Yea I know Macklemore at Lakeside, as you might think the majority of the community was just not ready for his lyrical content. He performed a couple of different tracks from his album The Language Of My Whole a couple tracks I haven't heard before. The overall performance was great, Macklemore really worked with what he had, given the fact that audience was lacking greatly, and he could only say words like "damn" and "hell" causing some of his songs to sound incomplete. The best performance of the day was his "White Privilege" where he addresses his own struggle as a white rapper in the ever so changing industry of Hip-Hop. I felt that performance in general was received with mixed feelings in the crowd. Another Stand out performance of the day was "Love Song" which the Mack dedicated to a couple in the crowd adding to his already outstanding on stage charisma. Overall Macklemore did great with what he was given, got a few free burgers sold some tees so I'm sure he enjoyed himself. Support this local Artist

Nas "Nigger" An Ex-nay For Album Title

Nas new album, set to release July 1st, entitled Nigger is now no longer going to be released with such a controversial title. The new title is simply Nas the release date will stay the same but I guess Nas, who originally seemed very confident with his decicision, has decided to chang ethe name. His original dicesion was backed by LA Reed and Jay-Z and called it an expression off the artist but recently there has been word the the album would never hit shelves because of the controversial title. Earlier this month he talked about the album with MTV talking about the title and wether or not he was going to keep the title.

“Record stores are gonna have a problem in this day and time selling a record with that title,” Nas explained. “Who knows what’s gonna turn out and be on that title? Who knows what the title will be? It was important to me to let the fans know what the album would be musically…Everybody is trying to stop the title. It’s just people being scared of what’s real. Somebody is trying to open up dialogue for people to talk. People thats high up, who aren’t really understanding what I’m doing, are scared."

“They’re scared for reason I understand, but the fans gotta know either way: This is he same album,” he finished. “The content is the same, the direction is the same, the message is gonna be everything I intended it to be musically." Via XXl

So Skateboard P announced in a radio interview over the weekend that N.E.R.D would be releasing its first feature film some time in the upcoming year......super directer Hype Williams ( the man behind most of kanye's videos and the tribes and all that) will be taking on the project of putting the story of N.E.R.D on film......the story is crazy ...Hype Williams is genius ....it should be dope

N.E.R.D's new release "Seeing Sound" set to release June 10th with about 14 tracks. Their single, "Everyone Nose" set the bar pretty high for the rest of the album. I'm excited but don't know if I'm going to run out and buy it, so like not that excited.

The Cool Kid's new release "The Bake Sale EP" is set to release on iTunes on May 20th, fallowed by the June 10th release to stores. Fallowing the album they will release a mixtape "That's Stupid" via thier new website here I'm really looking forward to this release, after a plethora of super tight mixtapes the album can only be excellent. I will be running to the store to cop this one for sure.
